For many of our students, field trips are the first opportunity they have to travel outside Oakland, and the hands-on learning goes beyond what is possible inside the classroom. As teacher David Norris said about his 4th-graders' trip to Gold Rush country: "This is one of those experiences they'll remember for the rest of their lives."
Sadly, invaluable field trips like this fall outside our ever-tightening public school budget. To offer this golden opportunity again this year -- along with other trips, like our 3rd-graders' visit to the Monterey Aquarium -- we must appeal to the wider community for donations. Please consider a tax-deductible donation!
- $150 pays for one 5th-grader to take part in the five-day Mosaic Project, an outdoor school in Napa.
- $200 sends one 4th-grader on the two-night trip to Gold Rush country.
