Board of Directors

Jonathan Klein, President
OSSF CEO from 2004 to 2006, Mr. Klein is now Special Assistant to the State Administrator of the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). He served as Teach for America's Bay Area Executive Director from 1999 to 2003, and before that he taught elementary school.

Vanessa Coleman, Secretary
Operations consultant to local education and non-profit organizations, Ms. Coleman is a PhD candidate in education at Mills College. She is the former executive director of SummerBridge National, and also served as Co-Executive Director at the Coalition of Essential Schools.

Robert F. Kidd, Treasurer
Counsel with Stein, Rudser, Cohen, & Magid LLP, Mr. Kidd is also President of the Jack London Aquatic Center in Oakland and a Board Member of Oakland Rotary #3.

Brendan Cullen, Member-at-Large
Regional Managing Director of Education Pioneers, Ms. Cullen is a former Project Manager for the New York City Department of Education’s "Empowered Schools Initiative."

Robyn Gould, Member-at-Large
A law clerk and third-year law student UC Berkeley' Boalt Hall School of Law, Ms. Gould is a former corporate consultant and non-profit executive.

Lillian Cordova-Lopez, Member-at-Large
Human Resources Specialist for Wells Fargo Bank and Oakland Community Organizations (OCO) leader, Ms. Cordova-Lopez was co-chair of OCO when that organization led the way with OUSD and BayCES (Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools) to pass the small schools policy in 1999.

David Montes de Oca, Member-at-Large
Director of the Office of Charter Schools for OUSD, Mr. Montes de Oca is the former design team coach for OUSD's New Schools Development. He has also served as Supervising Principal for Havenscourt Middle School, advisor at MetWest High School, and Executive Director at the Urban Arts Academy. He was also the founding principal of Oakland's Urban Promise Academy, and is a former middle school teacher.

Brian Rogers, Member-at-Large
Executive Director of the Rogers Family Foundation, Mr. Rogers is also a Board Member of Lighthouse Community Charter School and lead community investor in OUSD's “Expect Success!” Redesign Project.
